Conquer the perfect storm!
January 2020
Galicia, Spain

In January 2020, we went on an adventure with our rider and longtime friend Thomas Traversa, specialist in windsurfing storm chasing.
For those who do not know Thomas Traversa, he was Wave World Champion in 2014 and winner of the Red Bull Storm Chase, so he is the most gifted windsurfer of his generation in waves and really extreme conditions.
Direction Spain and more precisely Galicia for an express trip but of any intensity!
Arriving on the spot and especially knowing Thomas, we were not surprised to land on a wave that is certainly very beautiful but not really engaging: big, very nasty slab (wave that breaks on an uncovered reef), a water not very simple but all the same much simpler than the return to land! And of course a completely offshore wind of around 60 knots (gusts over 100 km / h). Experts will understand 😅
Yes we were indeed in Thomas’ paradise, a spot that only he can ride as if nothing had happened, rocks everywhere, an ultra strong wind, big powerful waves and a configuration of the coast that does not really offer any plan to return to shore safely after the session! He has never opted for a gentle return with his equipment, preferring swimming and rock climbing!
The images speak for themselves, find below the video made by Horue Movie
A big thank you to Pierre Bouras for immortalizing these moments in photos
