The storm mat is an accessory that guarantees a comfortable change after your session. The idea is simple: avoid damaging your feet and tearing your wetsuit when changing on hard surfaces. This is often the case in parking lots, where the asphalt can quickly damage neoprene. Not to mention that in summer, unshaded parking lots can have very high ground temperatures, burning the soles of your feet. The same is true on hot sand.
